Senior Software Engineer, Backend (ML Feature Platform)

About the Position

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for our ML Feature Platform team. The ML Feature Platform is one of the two teams that compose the ML Platform at Affirm. The team's mission is to grow Affirm’s business by building a delightful, self-serve platform for developing and serving data for machine learning and decisioning.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics.
• Proactively identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting or improving code review and design standards.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
• Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base and developing a suite of tools and practices that enable safe changes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Competitive base pay range per year: 153,000 CAD - 213,000 CAD.
