About the Position

We’re opening the position of a Senior Software Engineer to work on a project for our Client who empowers organizations to conduct globally connected research and modernize research administration. Their industry-leading cloud-based research platform powers a suite of applications that maximizes researchers’ success, improves collaboration, and simplifies work across the entire research life cycle including commercialization and tracking of research outcomes. Its global community of users includes academic institutions, pharmaceutical and biotech companies, hospitals and health systems, government agencies, independent research institutions, and non-profit organizations.

In this role, you will work as a full-stack technical contributor driving design, development, and quality of software across the Client’s research platform. You will need to have a product ownership mindset to care not just about writing code, but about delivering meaningful outcomes for the Customers and their business.

You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment where new features, technical debt reduction, and platform modernization all compete for priority. You will be expected to balance those demands thoughtfully, advocate for quality at every stage of the SDLC, and bring passion for solving hard problems through clean, testable, and scalable solutions.

This position is focusing on the mods or migrations of Admin data from legacy systems to the platform. Data and database skills would be highly desirable since much of the work will embrace data movement, mapping, and validations. The project will also include some modifications of the platform (file-loading capabilities and some front-end additions).

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and maintain full-stack software solutions of moderate to high complexity
  • Demonstrate engineering discipline in estimating work, reporting on progress, raising blockers, and delivering outcomes on time
  • Contribute to design and architecture of new and existing systems, ensuring alignment with the target architecture
  • Develop prototypes and proofs of concept to evaluate new technologies and approaches
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams, including Product Management Team and Quality Engineering Team, and across various product lines to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Balance feature delivery with proactive investment in tech debt, test coverage, and platform health
  • Participate in backlog refinement and sprint planning with an eye toward quality, feasibility, and long-term sustainability
  • Write thorough unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (since a first-class part of development is driving towards a “build-quality-in” culture)
  • Expand automated QA coverage as a core team metric
  • Resolve defects swiftly during QA, pre-production, production, and post-release phases
  • Uphold and contribute to the team’s Definition of Done (DoD)

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and innovating large-scale web applications and services
  • Strong experience with Java, Spring, and Hibernate server application & its design patterns
  • Practical experience with old Java versions, especially Java 8
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Strong experience with unit testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Strong understanding of software design and architecture
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development
  • Experience with relational database technology
  • Experience with Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux
  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence) or similar ones
  • Experience developing applications in AWS
  • Interest or experience in using AI to improve productivity in designing, building, and testing software
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Solid communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • English level – Upper-Intermediate or higher

Nice to Have

  • Practical experience with React, JavaScript, jQuery, and JSP
  • Experience with modern JavaScript web application frameworks

  • Mental Health Program – company-covered psychologist consultations, with an annual coverage limit
  • English, German, and Polish language courses and Speaking Clubs
