Senior Software Engineer

Job description
About the Position
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team, working on diverse projects in .NET and MATLAB environments, and contribute to custom ETL solutions for financial analysts.
About Your Job
I log in to the HMS network from my home office in the morning and check emails and Teams channels. Then, the Daily Scrum is on the agenda. Depending on how full the calendar is, I can either start developing directly or prepare for a meeting. In the afternoon, I am either in the office or continue working from home.
My team stands out due to its diverse competencies and experiences. There are colleagues who have been with the client for ages and know almost every corner. Additionally, there is the motivation of the younger colleagues. This results in a super dynamic mix.
I find the collaboration with colleagues to be extremely pleasant. Moreover, I really enjoy dealing with customers.
The biggest challenge is to familiarize oneself with new environments and technologies. In the client environment, there are very specific terminologies and approaches that one must first understand in order to be able to provide truly helpful work.
Currently, these are development projects in the.NET or MATLAB environment, which can be roughly located in the ETL cosmos. Before that, I also had SAS projects in the zOS and OpenVMS environment.
In the client project at an international financial institution, I develop, in a small team, a customized ETL solution for economists and analysts. Technologically, the project is based on SQL Server and .NET with MATLAB as the frontend. In particular, the cohesion in the team, which offers a healthy mix of years of experience and competence, is a great motivation for me. However, the most fun is the dynamic exchange with the users, who as power users are not only users but also provide valuable feedback and solve problems independently.
About HMS
My employer suits me because it sees the development of employees as a central component of the company's success.
Because HMS advertises its family-friendliness and also puts it into practice.
There is a strong focus on work-life balance and the further development of employees.
I have not experienced rigid hierarchies. In my experience, it is always possible to reach the respective person through short routes.
The ability to master a wide variety of technologies and working methods and to build long-term customer relationships in order to deliver the best end result.
The transition to a new project, in which I previously had little expertise, was promoted by HMS through certification and afterwards I was able to start immediately.
Dare to take the step! A lateral entry is also possible at HMS and in many cases even desired.
New employees can expect a great welcome culture and the opportunity to quickly get involved in exciting topics.
