About the Position
Senior Software Engineer @ING Hubs Romania
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team at ING Hubs Romania. This role is pivotal in developing and supporting our globally used service mesh solution.
Responsibilities
As a Service Mesh engineer, you will:
- Work in a squad with 11 other engineers to develop and support the service mesh solution using Envoy.
- Ensure all teams and applications reach the Golden State by promoting the microservices golden path and correct usage of the service mesh.
- Help customers by tackling issues related to our product.
- Join Scrum ceremonies to align on progress, priorities, and blockers.
- Collaborate with teammates through pair programming on user stories.
- Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to maintain code quality.
- Take ownership of user stories from implementation to delivery.
- Contribute to internal initiatives, such as preparing talks or sharing knowledge to promote platform adoption.
- Support other teams integrating with the platform, guiding them through setup and troubleshooting issues.
- Continuously improve documentation to make solutions reusable and accessible.
- Identify gaps or improvement areas and contribute them to the backlog.
- Help enhance developer experience and platform usability through feedback and incremental improvements.
- Actively contribute to strengthening the engineering ecosystem and collaboration across teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years experience as a Software Engineer.
- DevOps as Cloud-minded Engineer.
- Proficiency in Go or similar systems languages (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, C-family languages).
- A polyglot mindset and eagerness to learn new languages and technologies.
- Experience with GCP, AKS, or Kubernetes.
- Experience with Envoy proxy is important, and contributions to OSS Envoy is a plus. Alternatively, Nginx experience is also desirable.
