We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the nascent US Bank Accounts team, building products that enable businesses to open, manage, and move money directly within our ecosystem.

As an early member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape technical design, architecture, and roadmap decisions; own projects from beginning to end; and help define the team’s culture and identity.

You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and key stakeholders to turn complex banking needs into reliable, scalable customer experiences. This Chicago-based role is part of the broader Financial Services product organization, which owns the full suite of financial products we offer to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch into production.
• Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.
• Be hands-on and contribute to the implementation.
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
• Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features.
• We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers.
• Build APIs and tooling according to quality principles such as performance and code quality.
• Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line.

Requirements

• Experience: 7+ years of experience in the software development industry
• Languages: Full professional proficiency in English
• Skills:
  • Java
  • Web Services
  • REST APIs
  • Webhooks
  • SQL/PostgreSQL
• Knowledge:
  • Good understanding of Software Engineering practices
  • Interest in product knowledge
  • Familiarity with complex large-scale distributed systems
  • Value involving other people to hear different perspectives

We Offer

• Compensation: The annual base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $243,000. Compensation is based on factors including qualifications, experience, and location. Total compensation package includes equity (RSUs), 401(k), health, dental, vision, and more.
• Work Environment: This role is based in our Chicago office. We're an office-first company and expect employees to work in-office at least 3 days a week on average.
