About the Position

Senior Software Engineer, Storage Platform

Warsaw, Poland

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Storage Clients team at Box, the leader in Intelligent Content Management. Your role will be pivotal in building the critical gateway services that power every upload, download, and collaboration at Box. This is infrastructure that touches every Box customer, every day, across an exabyte-scale platform spanning multiple GCP and AWS regions worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Java or Scala that power Box's critical content ingress and egress flows
• Model best practices in crafting systems and code with sound architectures, reliability, scalability, and maintainability
• Plan and effectively execute on projects and quarterly deliverables
• Measure system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize accordingly
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and sprint planning
• Contribute code reviews ensuring quality standards are met consistently
• Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

Requirements

• Strong coder with demonstrated proficiency in one of the backend languages such as Java or Scala
• 5+ years of Software Development experience in distributed systems
• Experience designing, building, and deploying high-quality software
• Passion for building highly available and scalable distributed systems at large scale
• Excited about solving complex technical problems using data-driven solutions
• Act like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• Proficient in English
