Senior Staff Engineer, Java Developer

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, Java Developer with expertise in JVM, AWS, and relational databases to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Technical Lead with excellent communication skills.
• Effectively communicate with client stakeholders and the offshore team.
• Develop software running on the JVM, with a strong preference for Java.
• Handle coding/development work and be responsible for the delivery of tasks assigned to the offshore team.
• Design and optimize access of relational databases such as Aurora and Oracle.
• Develop software that runs and integrates in the Cloud, with a preference for AWS technologies such as ECS, Lambda, SQS, and RDS.
• Create containerized solutions using Docker.
• Develop software that interacts with messaging systems such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Create APIs using RESTful techniques.
• Create new infrastructure with tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Use distributed version control software such as Git.
• Create software that considers all aspects of performance, security, reliability, and monitoring in a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
• Document and communicate the design of the systems produced.
• Be an active participant in an Agile Scrum team.
• Coordinate with product management to estimate, refine, and plan the product roadmap.
• Use test-driven development techniques.
• Instrument and monitor software to ensure it is performing to expectations.
• Integrate software with internal and external systems to increase business value.
• Create RESTful APIs for frontend teams and external partners.
• Keep up-to-date status of items in our issue tracking software.
• Participate in and help execute team peer design and code reviews.
• Mentor junior team members in debugging, testing strategies, design, and achieving on-time delivery.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in developing software which runs on the JVM, with a strong preference for Java.
• In-depth knowledge of how to design and optimize access of relational databases such as Aurora and Oracle.
• Development of software which runs on and integrates in the Cloud with a preference for AWS technologies such as ECS, Lambda, SQS, and RDS.
• Creation of containerized solutions which can be run with Docker.
• Development of software which interacts with messaging systems such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Creation of APIs using RESTful techniques.
• Experience in creating new infrastructure with tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Use of distributed version control software such as Git.
• Experience in test-driven development techniques.
