This is a role in the R&D team, where engineers from various fields together create and improve products that have proven their effectiveness in hundreds of thousands of missions. The specialist will manage the end-to-end technical lifecycle of advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems, ensuring seamless integration of hardware, software, and specialized payloads. This role manages system architecture, requirement management, and verification, ensuring that all platforms meet stringent military performance, reliability, and safety standards in highly competitive operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Lifecycle Leadership: Manage the end-to-end system engineering lifecycle for UAV platforms, from concept of operations and architectural design to deployment and sustainment lifecycle.
• Requirement Management: Define, track, and manage system-level technical requirements, subsystems, and components using industry-standardized tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama).
• System Integration: Oversee the integration of complex multidisciplinary subsystems, including avionics, secure data link communications, propulsion systems, and MilTech payloads (e.g., EO/IR, SIGINT, swarming munitions).
• Verification and Validation (V&V): Develop and execute rigorous testing plans and V&V strategies to ensure system compliance with mission requirements and environmental/defense standards.
• Risk and Reliability Management: Conduct technical risk assessments, trade studies, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to guarantee system safety, survivability, and reliability in harsh conditions.
• Technical Coordination: Act as the primary technical expert and point of contact, coordinating cross-functional engineering teams (software, hardware, RF, aerodynamics) and external defense stakeholders.
• SWaP Optimization: Manage architectural and design decisions for stringent management and optimization of size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints without compromising mission capabilities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of practical experience in complex system engineering, a significant portion directly related to UAVs, aerospace, or defense platforms;
• deep applied understanding of military standards for environmental and electromagnetic compatibility (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-160);
• deep practical knowledge of critical UAV components, including flight control systems (autopilots), telemetry, LOS/BLOS communication, and navigation systems (GNSS/INS);
• proven ability to manage complex technical trade-offs, resolve cross-disciplinary integration bottlenecks, and perform root cause analysis during flight tests;
• experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers in a dynamic, agile hardware development environment.
