Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We are looking for a high-caliber, autonomous Tableau Developer to join our Data & Analytics team as a contractor. You will own the end-to-end (E2E) delivery lifecycle of our marketing & commercial business intelligence products, from solution design to development, testing, and final production release.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Design & Data Model Specification

    • Requirements Translation: Partner with the product owner to translate ambiguous business questions into structured technical visualizations.
    • Data Spec Blueprinting: Design and document the required data model specifications (grain, joins, aggregations) needed to power dashboards, passing clear requirements to the Data Engineering team.
    • Prototyping: Build rapid wireframes and mockups to align stakeholder expectations before full-scale development.
  • E2E Dashboard Development & Performance Tuning

    • Advanced Visualization: Build scalable, clean, and intuitive Tableau dashboards that adhere to modern UI/UX design standards and executive-level reporting requirements.
    • Performance Optimization: Architect dashboards utilizing Tableau best practices (Extract vs. Live optimization, efficient calculated fields, minimized LOD expressions, and proper indexing backgrounders) to ensure sub-second rendering times on massive datasets.
  • SQL Data Validation

    • Independent QA: Conduct rigorous validation testing by cross-referencing Tableau dashboard logic against database records using SQL to guarantee absolute mathematical accuracy before release.
  • Environment Strategy & Release Management

    • Deployment Governance: Execute a structured multi-environment strategy (Development → Staging → Production).
    • Version Control: Ensure workbook configurations, data source connections, and parameter definitions swap cleanly across environments without manual hardcoding or post-deployment breaking changes.
    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Lead UAT sessions with structured test scripts to secure final validation signs-off from business users.

Requirements

  • Must Have

    • Key Technical Qualifications
      • Tableau Mastery: Expert-level proficiency with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Cloud/Server, and Tableau Prep. Deep understanding of row-level security (RLS), advanced parameter actions, and dynamic dashboard switching.
      • Expert SQL: Hands-on SQL skills (Window functions, CTEs, complex joins). Experience querying modern cloud data platforms (ideally Snowflake) is highly preferred.
      • Data Modeling Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of data warehousing concepts, including Star/Snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling, and managing point-in-time snapshot data.
      • Environment Management: Proven experience managing Tableau sites, project structures, folder permissions, and workbook publishing cycles across enterprise-grade Dev/Prod pipelines.
    • Domain & Soft Skills Experience
      • Marketing & Commercial Domain Expertise: Strong familiarity with marketing and commercial performance indicators. You should implicitly understand metrics such as Media Spend, ROI, Conversion Rates, Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), Churn, and Multi-Touch Attribution.
      • Extreme Autonomy: A proven track record of working as an independent contractor. You must be comfortable managing your own milestones, flagging technical risks early, and driving projects to completion with minimal daily oversight.
      • Consultative Communication: Exceptional English communication skills. Ability to push back constructively on suboptimal design requests and suggest better analytical alternatives to stakeholders.
  • Nice to Have

    • Working in Video Collaboration projects
