About the Position

Senior Wording Intelligence Specialist (Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)

Regular Employment

Location: Munich, DE

About the Role

Are you passionate about the intersection of contract wordings, artificial intelligence, and technology? Do you want to help shape how AI is used to understand complex insurance and reinsurance contracts at scale?

As Senior Wording Intelligence Specialist, you will play a key role in developing the next generation of Swiss Re's contract and wording intelligence capabilities. You will bring together strong insurance/reinsurance contract wording expertise with a practical understanding of Generative AI, data, and technology to ensure that the intelligence we build is contractually sound, scalable, and delivers practical value to the business.

You will bring a strong contractual perspective to the development and quality of our wording intelligence, reviewing and challenging AI-enabled solutions before they are introduced to the business. You will also help shape Group-wide wording standards and governed knowledge, enabling better contract review, portfolio insights, and risk management across Swiss Re.

This is not a traditional legal role, nor a data science role. You will work hands-on at the intersection of contracts, product, AI, and technology, partnering closely with wording experts, Product Owners, Data Scientists, Technology, and Business Unit stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Group wording expertise and governance: Act as a key wording expert, taking ownership of selected wording topics and contributing to Group-wide contractual questions, common wording standards, and authoritative reference knowledge in collaboration with Business Unit experts.
  • Shape AI-enabled wording intelligence: Translate contractual knowledge and business challenges into practical AI-enabled solutions, working with Product, Data Science, and Technology teams on clause assessment, deviation analysis, document intelligence, and portfolio-level insights to support risk monitoring and steering.
  • Challenge and validate intelligence: Review and challenge AI-enabled wording capabilities for contractual accuracy, contextual interpretation, and reliability, working with technical teams to establish appropriate quality standards before formal expert validation.
  • Drive collaboration and continuous improvement: Collaborate across contract review, search, and analytics products, Group-wide initiatives, and Business Unit experts to promote consistent application of wording knowledge, reuse of intelligence, and continuous improvement.
  • Explore emerging opportunities: Identify and help test new applications of AI and analytics for contractual analysis, drawing on emerging Legal AI developments and working with specialist teams to evaluate their practical value.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance contracts and wordings, with strong knowledge of contractual interpretation and associated underwriting or risk implications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex contractual questions, challenge interpretations, and develop practical solutions.
  • A keen interest in Generative AI, with some practical experience using AI tools and an understanding of their opportunities and limitations in contractual analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across underwriting, legal, Product, Data Science, and Technology teams.
  • A university degree or equivalent qualification in law, insurance, business, or another relevant discipline.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LegalTech or contract intelligence solutions
  • AI evaluation
  • Wording standards
  • Data analytics
  • Emerging AI technologies

We Offer

  • Base salary range: 90,000 EUR - 150,000 EUR (full-time equivalent)
  • Attractive performance-based variable compensation component
  • A variety of global and location-specific benefits
  • Hybrid working model with a minimum of three days per week in the office
