We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Snowflake Administrator with a strong background in SQL Server database administration. This hybrid role is ideal for a database professional who can manage and optimize both modern cloud data platforms and traditional on-premise or cloud-hosted SQL Server environments. You will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, performance tuning, and security of our Snowflake data platform, while also providing expert-level support for our SQL Server infrastructure. The ideal candidate has deep experience in database management, a DevOps mindset, and a passion for automation and performance.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage Snowflake accounts, virtual warehouses, roles, and user access
• Monitor and optimize Snowflake query performance, warehouse utilization, and cost efficiency
• Design and implement Snowflake security policies including role-based access control and row-level security
• Set up and maintain Snowflake data ingestion processes using Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks
• Integrate Snowflake with data pipelines, BI tools, and cloud storage platforms like AWS S3 and Azure Blob
• Support schema design and data modeling in a cloud-based Snowflake data warehouse
• Implement Snowflake backup, data retention, and time travel policies
• Install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances on-premises and in cloud environments
• Design and maintain SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups and replication
• Perform SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and index management
• Implement and monitor SQL Server backup, recovery, and maintenance plans
• Secure database access for SQL Server and ensure compliance with internal and external standards
• Automate SQL Server administrative tasks using PowerShell or T-SQL
• Collaborate with data engineering and BI teams to ensure availability, stability, and performance of data platforms
• Document infrastructure components, operational processes, and best practices
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide Tier 2/3 support for database-related issues
• Recommend and implement improvements to the overall data infrastructure and tooling

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA (2012 or newer)
• 2+ years of hands-on Snowflake administration experience
• Strong T-SQL and SQL performance tuning skills
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of data integration tools (e.g., Fivetran, Matillion, Informatica, ADF, SSIS)
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data governance
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python preferred)
• Excellent documentation and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Deep expertise in Snowflake performance tuning, cost optimization, and advanced features like Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server HA/DR solutions, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and replication
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integrating cloud storage (e.g., S3, Azure Blob) with data pipelines
• Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash in DevOps environments
• Familiarity with data governance, security best practices, and compliance standards such as GDPR or HIPAA
