Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is the centerpiece of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) family of cloud computing services. Customers depend on EC2 to provide secure and reliable computing power for business, research, education, or anything else they need to accomplish their goals. Our team is building new and exciting services that help our customers reduce their costs and improve their overall experiences using EC2. We are looking for software engineers who care about the customer and are excited at the thought of providing simple and well-designed solutions to meet our customers’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code while following software engineering best practices.
• Identify and resolve ambiguity in technical spaces with high problem complexity. Translate product and technical requirements into scalable solutions.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle - design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Work closely with teams across EC2 and AWS (Placement, MIST, Paperwork, EC2 Capacity Blocks, EC2 UltraServers, EC2 Console) to build scalable, flexible interfaces enabling fast-paced delivery of customer-facing features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality across the team. Contribute to on-call rotations and operational excellence.
• Engage regularly with cross-functional stakeholders (Product Managers, Application Security Engineers) and drive two-way dialogue to identify product requirements and build robust, secure features.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
