About the Position
Software Engineer, Android
Join amo's early Android team as a Software Engineer, contributing to unique UI features and platform development in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
As an Android Engineer, your day-to-day will include:
- Feature Development: Being at the forefront of delivering unique and high-quality UI features. Your expertise in low-level APIs, shader creation for dynamic effects, and custom rendering systems will be invaluable.
- Platform Development: Actively participating in creating and enhancing the platform. This includes writing careful abstractions for Media encoding, decoding, and playback; libraries that incorporate performance tracing along with associated internal tooling; and our own components for dealing with Navigation and Deeplinks across apps.
- Roadmap Creation and Ideation: Contributing in the roadmap creation and ideation process. Your experience will be essential in identifying tradeoffs and bringing valuable ideas from both product and engineering perspectives.
- Knowledge Sharing: Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices, attending conferences, engaging in online communities, and sharing your insights internally.
- Owning your scope: Monitoring analytics and managing system crashes. Taking ownership of your scope and proactively addressing issues and triaging bug fixes.
Requirements
- Professional experience in native Android development using Kotlin or Java.
- Good understanding of computer systems fundamentals (Program execution, Linking, Multithreading, Memory Management, Processes, and File Systems).
- Professional experience in low-level languages like C or C++ is a significant advantage.
- Passion and experience building consumer-facing products.
- Experience building SDK’s/Libraries (building for others).

- Experience with French (not mandatory, but helpful).

In the initial months, you'll be working closely with the founding team, gradually taking ownership of central components and features. Given our early stage, we're seeking versatile engineers comfortable contributing to various aspects of the company's foundation.
