Software Engineer II, Backend (Collections)

About the Position

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. The Collections team, as part of the Repayments area, is on a mission to build a robust platform that will maximize the recovery of delinquent users by sending the right message to the right people at the right time, while monitoring and detecting problems and ensuring high reliability of the engineering systems.

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer II, Backend to join our remote team in Spain. You will work closely with your team mates in the Collections team and Product to build robust collections solutions which will enable us to keep our loans portfolio healthy and help our customers pay on time and recover from any delays.

Responsibilities

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
• Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
• Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.

Requirements

• 2.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems and proficiency in one of Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems, and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and executing on it by writing clear, easily understood, well tested and extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback to other engineers through code reviews.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.

• Compensation: Base pay range per year: 73,000 - 109,000 EUR.
