Software Engineer

About the Position

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team at TMC in Cesena, Italy. Develop and maintain embedded software in C for machine control units.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software in C-language for machine control units (ECU/controllers)
• Program control logic in a PLC environment, considering functional and safety requirements
• Implement and integrate machine-internal communication protocols (e.g., CAN, CANopen, J1939, ISOBUS) between controllers, sensors, actuators, and displays
• Participate in bench and field tests, analyze data, and troubleshoot issues
• Support the commissioning and testing of machines
• Prepare and maintain technical and project documentation
• Collaborate with teammates using versioning and code review practices

Requirements

• Bachelor- or Masterdiploma in Informatica, Elektronica, Automatisering, Mechatronica or an equivalent degree
• 0-2 years of experience in embedded software development or automation (including internships and traineeships)
• Good knowledge of the C programming language and the basics of embedded programming
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming (IEC 61131-3: Ladder, Structured Text, FBD)
• Knowledge of industrial/automotive communication protocols (CAN, CANopen, J1939, Modbus, etc.)
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
• Knowledge of technical English, both written and spoken

• A gross annual salary (RAL) of at least € 27,000.00, in accordance with the CAO Handel – Tertiair, Distributie en Diensten
