Software Platform Engineer III

About the Position

Astronics Connectivity Systems & Certification (Astronics CSC) designs, engineers, manufactures, and certifies reliable digital in-flight entertainment and cabin management systems (IFE/CMS) for the corporate, private, and VIP aircraft industry. As a world leader in custom digital IFE/CMS systems, we offer a wide range of products and services, including entertainment, lighting, call, temperature, audio/video on demand, tablet integration, real-time 3-D moving map, and more. We are currently seeking a Software Platform Engineer III to join our team in Kent, Washington.

Responsibilities

• Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
• Uses current programming languages and technologies, writes codes, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications.
• Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
• Interacts with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
• Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes.
• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses.
• Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems.
• Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives.
• Responsible for complicated design and architecture.
• Ability to mentor and delegate to more junior engineers.
• Writes detailed design and communicates appropriately.
• Assists other areas to develop and maintain timeliness of projects.

Requirements

• Education: BS in Software, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering (MS in lieu of experience).
• Experience: 5+ years’ experience in embedded systems and board bring-up.
• Skills:
  • Working knowledge of device drivers and device trees.
  • Proficiency in Linux OS.
  • Proficiency in C/C++/C#.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Working knowledge of serial buses, i2c, SPI, and ethernet.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols such as PTP, NTP, DHCP, etc.
  • Working proficiency in Java/Android OS.
  • Working knowledge of AVB, IGMP, RTP, H.264/H.265.

Compensation

• Base salary: $111,000 through $150,000, influenced by several factors including experience, skill set, education, certifications, market conditions, and business needs.
