About the Position
We are seeking a Software Project Engineer with mid-level experience to join our team in Derby, focusing on coordinating engineering activities and managing project deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of engineering projects, ensuring activities are completed in line with programme schedules and quality requirements.
- Coordinate engineering, testing, and project teams to ensure successful delivery of project milestones.
- Facilitate technical and project meetings, ensuring actions are clearly defined and tracked to completion.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and support the development of mitigation plans.
- Manage and maintain project documentation, ensuring records are up to date and delivered within agreed timescales.
- Coordinate testing and validation activities, ensuring requirements, resources, and schedules are aligned.
- Support engineering change and modification processes, ensuring approvals and reviews are completed efficiently.
- Act as a key point of contact between engineering teams, project management, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare project reports, KPI updates, and presentation materials for management reviews.
- Drive collaboration across teams to promote high-quality, right-first-time delivery.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Experience working within engineering, transportation, rail, infrastructure, or regulated environments.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple workstreams within complex projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing project documentation, reporting, and governance activities.
- Ability to identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within the rail or transportation sector.
- Understanding of systems engineering, testing, validation, or engineering assurance processes.
- Knowledge of engineering change control and configuration management.
- Experience working with distributed or international project teams.
