Responsibilities
As an Intermediate Quality Software Engineer on our Integration team, you'll ensure the seamless flow of data between our Accounts Payable platform and various ERP and accounting systems. Your role will focus on both manual and exploratory testing, with a strong emphasis on maintaining and writing automated tests. You'll be working across a technology stack that includes PHP, TypeScript, and C#/.NET, in an environment hosted on cloud platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GitHub.
- Shift Left on Quality: Collaborate early with Product and Development teams to understand feature scope, clarify requirements, and provide input on whether solutions should be general across integrations or feature specific.
- Test Planning and Execution: Write clear, structured manual test cases and perform impact analysis for regression, acceptance, integration, exploratory, and edge case testing.
- Integration and Data Testing: Validate that data syncs correctly between our platform and external ERP systems, including workflows, mapping rules, and error conditions.
- Embedding Quality Early: Partner with developers through pair testing and support quality checks and exploratory testing throughout the development lifecycle.
- Test Automation: Maintain and contribute to our existing end-to-end automation framework in TypeScript. Collaborate with developers to identify test gaps and recommend unit or integration tests where appropriate.
- Ad-Hoc Testing and Flexibility: Work alongside developers to validate features during development and support fast-moving testing priorities.
- Documentation and QA Artifacts: Maintain accurate test documentation, regression suites, and reference materials.
Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing of web applications, desktop software, and third-party service integrations.
- Troubleshooting: Experience troubleshooting issues across different layers of an application.
- Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
- Tools: Experience using Jira for task and bug tracking.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage QA from project kickoff through delivery.
- Planning: Strong planning skills, including prioritizing work, estimating test effort, and meeting timelines.
- Technical Skills: Comfortable using the Linux command line for daily operations. Ability to code in JavaScript/TypeScript or another language such as PHP, C#/.NET, or Python.
- Automation: Experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.
- Environments: Comfortable working in Linux, Windows, or macOS environments.
Nice to Have
- Integrations: Experience testing integrations and dependencies across different services, including data synchronization between systems.
- ERP Systems: Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems, or Accounts Payable concepts.
- AI Tools: Basic experience using AI tools to support QA workflows.
