Software/Database Developer (m/f/d)

About the Position

T-Systems, a part of the Deutsche Telekom Group, is seeking a Software/Database Developer to join our agile international team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining modern cloud-based data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on building scalable data pipelines, developing SQL-based data models, and supporting data-driven business processes.

Responsibilities

• Software & Database Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and database solutions on GCP.
  • Develop efficient and maintainable SQL code for data transformation and reporting.
  • Build and optimize data models using dbt (Data Build Tool).
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes.
  • Optimize database performance and query execution.
  • Perform unit testing and support integration testing activities.

• Cloud Engineering

  • Develop cloud-native solutions using GCP services.
  • Work with BigQuery as the primary data platform.
  • Monitor data quality.
  • Support deployment and release activities.

• Agile Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Architects, and Business Analysts.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Refinements, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Contribute to technical solution design and architecture discussions.
  • Review code and ensure compliance with development standards and best practices.
  • Continuously improve development processes and engineering practices.

Requirements

Must Have

• Strong experience in software development with a focus on database development.
• Excellent SQL programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong knowledge of BigQuery.
• Experience with dbt (Data Build Tool).
• Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Experience using Git for version control.
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of relational database design and data modeling.
• Experience developing ETL pipelines.
• Experience with REST APIs and data integration concepts.
• Familiarity with Agile software development (Scrum and/or SAFe).
• German language skills are an advantage.

Nice to Have

• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, or similar) to improve development efficiency and code quality.
• Experience integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities into data products and data-driven solutions.
• Knowledge of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or AI-powered data engineering concepts is an advantage.
• Interest in evaluating and adopting emerging AI technologies to enhance data engineering, analytics, and software development processes.
• Telecommunications industry experience.
