About the Role
As our Softwareentwickler:in - Kotlin (d/m/w), you will develop and modernize our online tax declaration and implement the income tax calculation in Kotlin, Groovy, and Java. Together with your team and our tax experts, you will create a solution that is perfectly tailored to the needs of our customers.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the maintenance, modernization, and further development of our online tax declaration and tax calculation code in an agile, self-organized team
- Implement income tax calculations: process user inputs, calculate expected refunds and additional payments, and translate the data into the format of the tax administration interface
- Actively drive the AI-supported modernization of our calculation module by gradually translating and optimizing legacy Groovy code to modern Kotlin
- Work closely with our tax experts; tax expertise is not a prerequisite
- Manage larger codebases, develop independent tools, and provide support in 2nd-level support as needed

Requirements
- Experience in development with Kotlin; knowledge of Java or Groovy is advantageous
- Proficiency in using IntelliJ IDEA, Git, and Gradle, and enjoy using AI tools like GitHub Copilot or similar agentic coding tools productively
- Not afraid of legacy code; see it as an opportunity and can structure complex code into logical areas
- Enjoy building your own tools when you realize they would be helpful without someone assigning the task
- Interest in working intensively with the field of taxes and are not deterred by tax jargon
- Very good German skills (at least C1 level)
