The role requires 12 to 16 years of experience and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient systems for cards and payments supporting reliable digital transactions.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable solution architectures that leverage XCTest, FIS, OPF, Java, and microservices to deliver resilient and maintainable enterprise applications for financial services clients.
- Translate complex business requirements into well-structured technical designs that align with organizational standards and industry best practices for reliability and performance.
- Define microservices boundaries, integration patterns, and data flows that optimize modularity, reuse, and operational efficiency in large-scale distributed systems.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, and infrastructure teams to ensure architectures are implemented accurately and remain aligned with non-functional requirements such as security and scalability.
- Create detailed solution design documents covering component interactions, deployment topologies, and integration touchpoints to provide clear guidance for implementation teams.
- Review existing application landscapes built with FIS, OPF, Java, and associated frameworks to identify modernization opportunities using microservices and automated testing practices.
- Establish coding, testing, and integration standards that promote consistent quality, including structured use of XCTest for automated test coverage across critical services.
- Guide performance tuning and optimization of microservices-based architectures by analyzing logs, metrics, and tracing data to proactively address bottlenecks and failure points.
- Coordinate with security and compliance stakeholders to embed secure design principles, data protection measures, and regulatory requirements into all solution architectures.
- Engage with product owners and business analysts to validate that proposed solutions address user needs while remaining feasible within technical and budgetary constraints.
- Provide technical oversight during key project milestones, ensuring that critical design decisions, technology choices, and integration approaches remain aligned with target architecture.
- Develop reference implementations and proof-of-concept solutions that demonstrate the effective use of XCTest, FIS, OPF, Java, and microservices for complex transaction processing scenarios.
- Document architectural decisions, rationale, and tradeoffs in a clear and accessible manner, enabling long-term maintainability and knowledge sharing across teams.
Requirements
- Possess 12 to 16 years of progressive experience in solution design and development with a strong track record of delivering enterprise-grade applications in complex environments.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in FIS, OPF, Java-based platforms, including configuration, customization, and integration for large financial or transactional systems.
- Exhibit hands-on experience with microservices design patterns, containerization concepts, and distributed system design focused on scalability, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Show strong capability using XCTest or similar frameworks to design automated unit and integration tests that support continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
- Bring practical understanding of cards and payments domain concepts such as authorization, clearing, settlement, and fraud controls to design solutions that meet industry needs.
- Display solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to diagnose complex issues across multiple layers, including application integration and infrastructure.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear written documentation, structured presentations, and collaborative working sessions.
- Maintain familiarity with hybrid working models, demonstrating discipline in remote collaboration tools, documentation practices, and coordination across geographically dispersed teams.
