Job description

About the Position

Sr. Supplier Development Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Neros is a defense technology company dedicated to rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and focused on closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

Responsibilities

  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Expertise: Strong ability to analyze engineering design specifications and provide detailed feedback on manufacturability, ensuring smooth transition from design to high-volume production.
  • Process Flow Development: Skilled in breaking down complex engineering design and testing specifications into structured process flows, identifying critical control points, risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Capacity Planning & Analysis: Expert in conducting detailed capacity assessments at supplier sites, including equipment throughput, labor efficiency, and line balancing, to ensure supply readiness for NPI and mass production ramps.
  • Collaborate with design engineers: To gain an in-depth knowledge of piece part, assembly, and/or sub-system design intent.
  • Work with procurement team: To strategically source parts matched with supplier competencies by reviewing and assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Lead liaison: Between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support.
  • Create and define supplier technical and quality requirements: Based on customer and program requirements and expectations for NPI and production phases.
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP): Create and implement a PPAP with selected suppliers to enable rate production.
  • Develop and approve process controls: To control critical characteristics.
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics: To identify trends and pinpoint systemic performance gaps and root causes to drive supplier improvement plans.
  • Travel: May require up to 50% travel.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or a STEM discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing, process, or supply chain engineering experience.
  • Technical Skills: 5+ years of experience with PCB assembly, mechanical assemblies, or electronic assemblies manufacturing.
  • Ownership and Negotiation: Proven track record of taking ownership, successfully negotiating preferred pricing, and driving results.
  • Quality Processes: Knowledge of supplier quality processes (production part approval process, advanced product quality planning, first article inspection reports, etc.).
  • Quality Systems: Experience with quality systems (ISO 9000/TS/AS9100/NADCAP).
  • Statistical Techniques: Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods, e.g., design of experiments, Six Sigma, etc.

We Offer

  • Competitive Salary: $154,000 - $215,500 USD per year.
  • Equity Grants: Highly competitive equity grants considered part of Neros' total compensation package.
