Responsibilities

Your new role will involve:

• Owning general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes
• Preparing accurate financial statements, management reports, job costing reports, and financial dashboards
• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and daily cash flow monitoring
• Maintaining accounting practices consistent with GAAP and supporting tax filings and S-corporation reporting requirements
• Partnering with outside tax preparers and auditors on annual filings and audits
• Analyzing job profitability and financial performance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical service lines
• Providing financial analysis that helps leadership make informed pricing and operational decisions
• Maintaining strong internal controls, accounting documentation, and financial compliance processes
• Identifying opportunities to streamline accounting workflows through automation and better technology
• Using accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and reporting tools to turn financial data into actionable business insights

Requirements

• Active CPA license highly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and month-end/year-end close
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop is required
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and dashboards
• Ability to independently identify accounting issues, determine the cause, and develop practical solutions
• Ability to analyze financial statements, job costing, cash flow, profitability, and financial KPIs
• Ability to communicate financial results and variances clearly to non-financial leadership
• Strong aptitude for learning new accounting and business software and troubleshooting technology

Nice to Have

• Experience with ServiceTitan or comparable field-service management software
• Experience with reporting or workflow automation tools such as Excel Power Query, Zapier, or API-connected dashboards
• Accounting experience in construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, home services, or the skilled trades
• Experience developing or maintaining financial dashboards and KPI reporting tools

• Starting compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience and CPA credentials
• Full-time position
• Fully in-office position based in North Chesterfield, VA
