About the Position

Staff Engineer, GaN New Product Development

This Staff Engineer will develop new high-voltage GaN products. Will be responsible for product design and engineering. Will design products to meet cost, performance, and reliability specifications. After design, the Engineer will coordinate the movement of multiple engineering lots through wafer fab, packaging, testing, and qualification. The Engineer will generate test and qualification protocols and analyze on-wafer and in-package test results. Where needed, the engineer will coordinate failure analysis and corrective action and will be responsible for successful product qualification. Will closely interact with the headquarters in California and the fabrication facilities in Japan and Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Design GaN products. Meet cost, performance, and reliability specs.
  • Coordinate the movement of multiple GaN product engineering lots through wafer fab, assembly, and testing. Ensure timely project execution from start to finish.
  • Analyze on-wafer and in-package test results. Ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate product qualification campaigns.
  • Drive root cause investigation for performance or quality issues.
  • Generate reports for internal and external communication.
  • Maintain up-to-date GANTT charts with project schedule and negotiate priorities when needed.
  • Track and communicate project status, key results, risks, and problems.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (+6 years experience) or PhD (+3 years experience) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or related fields required.
  • Expertise on high-voltage GaN device design and technologies.
  • Familiarity with layout environment (Cadence, L-Edit, etc.).
  • Familiarity with GaN manufacturing flow (wafer fab, probe, packaging, and testing).
  • Proficient in data manipulation and analysis skill. Familiar with JMP and MS Office.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management skill.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable. Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with reliability physics and failure analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with JEDEC and AEC-Q101 qualification standards is a plus.
