The Role

The AI Agents and Experience team is dedicated to transforming cutting-edge model capabilities into valuable, reliable product experiences for creators, businesses, and their audiences. As an Applied AI Engineer at Linktree, you will collaborate across product, design, data, and platform engineering to develop AI agents and AI-powered experiences that empower people to create, personalize, automate, and grow from one Linktree.

This role is ideal for a skilled product engineer who can transition from concept to prototype to production. You will work at a fast pace, learn from real-world usage, and refine what works through evaluation, observability, safeguards, and strong product judgment. This is not a research-focused role; it is a build-and-ship position.

Responsibilities

Build and ship end-to-end creator-facing and visitor-facing AI experiences, from prototype to production.
Design multi-agent workflows that integrate prompting, tool use, retrieval, memory/state, orchestration, and human-in-the-loop controls where appropriate.
Develop evaluation suites, regression harnesses, and quality metrics to ensure deliberate improvement in AI quality.
Collaborate closely with product, design, data, and trust teams to transform ambiguous user problems into simple, high-value experiences.
Optimize latency, reliability, cost, and safety to ensure AI features are fast, dependable, and scalable.
Use production feedback, support signals, and behavioral data to improve models, prompts, policies, and products.

Requirements

Strong software engineering fundamentals and a proven track record of delivering production systems end-to-end.
Hands-on experience building LLM-powered products, agents, chat systems, RAG workflows, or similar AI experiences.
Experience in developing evaluations for AI output quality.
Strong product sense: ability to identify real user problems, simplify solutions, and make practical trade-offs around effort, scope, and quality.
Ability to frequently weigh trade-offs and understand the benefits of keeping systems architecture simple.
Good judgment on safety, trust, privacy, abuse, and failure modes in AI systems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners and explain trade-offs clearly.
