Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (App Experience)

About the Position

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (App Experience) to join our remote team in Canada. This role will be at the forefront of our front end technical strategy, working closely with other experts across our mobile and web technologies, while also evolving and collaborating with every product experience team at Affirm.

Responsibilities

• Setting technical strategy for our frontend surface on a year-long time scale.
• Collaborating across teams in the product development lifecycle.
• Acting as a force-multiplier for your team through your definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes.
• Taking ownership of operations and availability by ensuring the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place.
• Fostering a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting code review and design standards.
• Helping develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Proficiency in working with Javascript/Typescript.
• Experience working across multiple teams, and driving horizontal initiatives with demonstrated leadership.
• Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality in a system through the definition of a technical and execution plan.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and understand both low-level language idioms and the architecture of large systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
