Job description

Stage Innovation : Ingénieur Intelligence Artificielle / Computer Vision

  • Type: Intern
  • Location: Toulouse, France
  • Salary: up to EUR 1200 per month

About the Position

At the Innovation Direction, we conduct research projects on very broad and multi-sectoral fields of experimentation.

These innovative projects, developed in teams, are supervised by our experts within the ALTEN Labs (IDF, Toulouse, Grenoble, Rennes, and Sophia Antipolis), and aim to address our clients' challenges by providing them with original and disruptive technological solutions.

Within our Toulouse Lab, you will be accompanied by an Innovation Pilot (Project Manager) to help you develop your skills on the activities of one of the following projects (several internships available).

Projects

Project: Sport Science - Position Degradation

In the context of experiments in the field of cycling and in partnership with a professional team, you will:

  • Characterize the different positions of a cyclist using inertial sensors and Computer Vision techniques
  • Process the information retrieved (Euler Angles, FFT, STFT)
  • Be able to link observed data with biomechanical consequences
  • Ensure the documentary capitalization of the project

Project: Application of Image Processing for a New Quality Control

  • Development of AI for Image Processing:
    • Use of Neural Networks (transformer RNN, CNN)
    • Creation and adaptation of existing architectures
    • Use of reinforcement learning methods
    • Image synthesis for database creation
    • Optimization of control (frequency, data used)
  • An industrial application around multi-criteria control by camera:
    • Stereo / monocular camera
    • Detection of anomaly, dimension, surface state, assembly state...
    • Integration into a model factory
  • An innovation project including:
    • A state-of-the-art review
    • The formalization of research with a Scientific Report
    • Project / multidisciplinary team management throughout the internship
    • An evolutionary approach (AGILE) based on Test & Learn

Project: AI Application for Operator Analysis

  • Creation and Development of an AI:
    • Use of Neural Networks (transformer RNN, CNN)
    • Creation and adaptation of existing architectures
    • Use of reinforcement learning methods
    • Optimization of control (frequency, data used)
  • An industrial application around process control by camera:
    • Stereo / monocular camera
    • Detection of operator intention and gesture
    • Detection and prevention of MSDs (Musculoskeletal Disorders)
    • Comparison of results with the manufacturing range
    • Use of results for the configuration of a workstation
    • Integration of results into a training factory
  • An innovation project including:
    • A state-of-the-art review
    • The formalization of research with a Scientific Report
    • Project / multidisciplinary team management throughout the internship
    • An evolutionary approach (AGILE) based on Test & Learn

Project: Recognition of Affordances on Industrial Objects

Robotic interaction with objects relies on the ability to identify functional zones: where to grasp, push, turn, where to avoid touching.

This internship aims to develop an intelligent system capable of identifying the Affordances of an object from an image, in order to determine how to manipulate it.

To this end, you will be required to:

  • Develop a Machine Learning model capable of locating any manipulable object in an agnostic manner
  • Develop a Machine Learning model capable of segmenting affordance zones on images of industrial objects
  • Evaluate the robustness of the model on a real dataset
  • Propose a solution to take into account the context in order to prioritize one type of manipulation over another

Qualifications

You are a final-year Engineering School student looking for a final year internship and have specialized in Signal/Image Processing, Computer Science, or AI.

You have knowledge in computer development, Computer Vision, or Machine Learning, algorithmics, and Artificial Intelligence, and are proficient in several associated tools such as PyTorch / Tensorflow, OpenCV, object recognition algorithms (Yolo, SSD), as well as Python or C++ languages, which you have applied during your training.

For the Sport Science Project, basic knowledge of cycling and biomechanics will also be appreciated, as well as good basics in physics and/or mathematics. Ideally, you are familiar with the concepts of 3D space rotation (Roll, Pitch, Yaw).

Responsive, rigorous, autonomous, and with a sense of service, you wish to evolve in a challenging environment.
