We are looking for a strategic public policy professional to join Spotify’s Global Government Affairs team in New York City. The Government Affairs team helps Spotify understand the global and local policy landscape, advocates on issues important to our business and users, and works to anticipate and mitigate policy and regulatory risks.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Government Affairs colleagues and teams across Spotify to develop positions on public policy proposals and strategies to advance them. You’ll report to the Director of Government Affairs, US & Canada, with a particular focus on state and local policy.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute policymaker engagement strategies that strengthen Spotify’s relationships across priority jurisdictions, with a focus on New York City, New York State, and other key states.
- Develop expertise on public policy issues with commercial and reputational importance to Spotify, including tax, artificial intelligence, content moderation, and emerging policy matters.
- Identify and assess priority state and local public policy issues affecting Spotify, and partner with your manager and US Government Affairs colleagues to develop effective advocacy strategies.
- Collaborate with teams across Spotify, including Legal, Communications, Social Impact, Product, Compliance, and Trust & Safety, to understand business priorities, develop clear policy narratives, and shape approaches to key policy issues.
- Build relationships and partnerships with external organizations, including trade associations and civil society organizations, to advance engagement and thought leadership on priority public policy issues.
- Represent Spotify with policymakers, government officials, industry peers, and other external stakeholders in support of the company’s policy priorities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing and implementing public policy or government affairs strategies and working with policymakers or other public policy stakeholders.
- Experience working in government, the private sector, a trade association, or a related public policy environment.
- Built strong relationships with policymakers and understand how to develop trusted relationships with officials in New York City, New York State, and other priority jurisdictions.
- Experience developing public policy strategies related to the technology sector and can translate complex policy developments into clear business implications.
- Experience engaging senior government officials, private-sector leaders, and public policy professionals.
- Can develop and execute effective advocacy strategies while balancing multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Communicate clearly in writing and conversation and can adapt your approach for policymakers, business leaders, and cross-functional partners.
- Build collaborative relationships across functions and levels, approach problems with sound judgment and integrity, and are comfortable operating in a changing policy environment.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States as needed, including occasionally on short notice.

- Competitive salary: The United States base range for this position is $139,683–199,548, plus equity.

- Hybrid role: Based in our New York City offices (average 2 to 3 days a week required).
- Time zone: We operate within the EST zone for collaboration.
