Position: Stypendysta/Student/Doktorant (K/M)

Location: Kraków

Type: Internship

Duration: 12 months

Responsibilities

• Participation in research on the synthesis and development of nanomaterials with potential antimicrobial activity.
• Preparation of samples for physicochemical, structural, and biological analyses.
• Characterization of obtained nanomaterials using analytical techniques (e.g., UV-Vis spectroscopy, HPLC, DLS).
• Participation in bionanotechnology research, including the evaluation of interactions between nanomaterials and cells, microorganisms, and biologically active molecules.
• Involvement in the development and use of in vitro biological models, including 2D and 3D cell models, to assess the activity, biocompatibility, and accumulation of nanomaterials.
• Participation in interdisciplinary research conducted by the project team.
• Analysis and interpretation of results obtained during experiments.
• Maintenance of laboratory documentation and preparation of reports and summaries of results.
• Collaboration with the scientific supervisor, post-docs, and other team members.
• Participation in the preparation of scientific publications and presentation of results at team meetings, seminars, conferences, and other scientific events.
• Use of obtained results in the preparation of a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation.

Requirements

• Being a student of the second degree studies, a doctoral student, or a doctoral candidate in a field related to nanotechnology, chemistry, material engineering, bionanotechnology, or a related field of exact and natural sciences.
• Interest in nanotechnology, nanomaterial synthesis, and their characterization methods.
• Basic knowledge of chemistry, physical chemistry, nanotechnology, bionanotechnology, or material engineering.
• Experience in the synthesis, modification, or functionalization of nanomaterials; experience in obtaining nanomaterials with biological activity will be an additional asset.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn analytical techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, HPLC, and DLS.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and clearly present research results.
• English language skills at a level that allows for the use of English-language scientific literature, preparation of reports, and presentation of research results.
• Ability to use basic data analysis software and documentation preparation, e.g., MS Office, Origin, GraphPad Prism.
• Accuracy, reliability, and attention to quality in experiments and documentation.
• Very good work organization, ability to work in an interdisciplinary research team, and communicativeness.
• Motivation for scientific development, gaining practical experience, and preparing a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge or experience in the field of bionanotechnology, biomaterials, and the study of interactions between nanomaterials and biological systems.
• Experience in cell culture and the development of in vitro biological models, including 2D and 3D models, spheroids, or other tissue models.
• Knowledge of methods for assessing biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, penetration, and accumulation of nanomaterials in cells and 3D models.
