About the Position
We are Grinding Gear Games, creators of the award-winning dark fantasy Action RPG Path of Exile. We are seeking experienced System Administrators to join our sysadmin and dev ops team. You will be responsible for supporting our online titles as well as our internal server infrastructure within our office. You will also help maintain and improve the tooling and automation required by these systems.
Location: On-site in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand
Relocation assistance: Available for the right candidate if needed
Employment Type: Full-time position - 40 hours a week
Responsibilities
- Performing system administration, dev-ops, and maintenance tasks related to Windows and Linux server and workstation machines, including both internal and external servers.
- Maintain and improve the tooling and automation required across the above systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support when needed.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience managing servers in a production environment.
- At least 2 years in a System Administrator, Dev-ops Engineer, or Reliability Engineer role.
- A strong background in implementing server-related automation (e.g. deployment and maintenance-related tasks).
- Cloud technology including managing VMs via APIs and infrastructure automation.
- Strong skills in Python or an equivalent language.
- System diagnostics, troubleshooting server faults, and performance analysis.
- Benchmarking, load testing, and performance profiling experience.
- Log analysis and monitoring tools.
- Compiling packages from source and creating custom debs/rpms.
- Continuous integration (e.g. Buildbot).
- Server capacity planning and resource optimization.
- Understanding of C++ applications and debugging tools.

On-Call Rotation
- Two days in lieu will be credited at the end of your rostered on-call week.
- If a call out occurs outside your usual working hours, you'll be paid time and a half for the time spent working.
