The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our team at RSM Eastern Africa. As a Tax Associate, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality tax services while applying advanced technical skills. You will work collaboratively within a team, carrying out tasks under the guidance and supervision of a Tax Senior or Tax Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
- A professional qualification in Tax is an added advantage.
Background and Experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation, tax consulting, or a related area.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in MS Office applications.
- Fast learner and comfortable with new challenges.
- Integrity and reliability.
- A team player.
- Good communication and social skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English and excellent research and report writing skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to take initiative.
Responsibilities and Outcomes
- Achieving an annual productivity of at least 75%.
- Work as an effective team member to complete assigned tasks within the budgeted time and communicating the engagement progress to the Tax Senior/Manager on a daily basis.
- Effectively documenting work to performance standards, thereby ensuring minimal review queries and assisting with updating the tax files.
- Ensuring review notes on assigned tasks are resolved within 24 hours or such other time as agreed with the team leader.
- Identifying engagement issues and communicating these, as they arise, to the Tax Manager.
- Actively developing technical skills on the job and through formal training and complying with the firm’s CPD requirements.
- Developing working relationships with the clients.
