About Us

Location: Berlin or Munich

STARK is a new kind of defence technology company revolutionizing the way autonomous systems are deployed across multiple domains. We design, develop and manufacture high performance unmanned systems that are software-defined, mass-scalable, and cost effective. This provides our operators with a decisive edge in highly contested environments.

We’re focused on delivering deployable, high-performance systems, not future promises. In a time of rising threats, STARK is bolstering the technological edge of NATO Allies and their Partners to deter aggression and defend Europe today.

Your Mission

The mission of this role is to ensure that infrastructure and DevSecOps operations run smoothly, securely, and in full compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements. You will create the structures, processes, and clarity the team needs to execute effectively while translating business priorities into actionable technical work.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Process

  • Lead team rituals and support/implement an effective work structure (e.g., scrum).
  • Prioritise and manage the team's work backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and business value.
  • Manage the professional growth, skill development, and performance reviews of team members.
  • Identify and proactively remove blockers for the team.
  • Facilitate team decision-making, ensuring decisions are documented and communicated effectively.

Stakeholder Interface

  • Serve as the central interface between the team and key stakeholders, including Software Engineering (Frontline and Edge), InfoSec, Simulation, Software Architecture, System Engineering, and Production, translating their requirements into actionable work items.
  • Set clear priorities to enable fast and secure software development across multiple programs, ensuring the platform accelerates rather than hinders engineering velocity.
  • Manage expectations and protect the team from external scope creep and unplanned interruptions.

Tooling & Configuration Management

  • Take full ownership and management of the core tech stack, including GCP, GitLab, Bitbucket, AI-assisted development tools, and Security Scanning tools.
  • Establish and maintain robust configuration management practices to ensure environment consistency and traceability across the software lifecycle.

Audit & Compliance

  • Lead the management of all audit controls and compliance requirements pertinent to the team's remit.

Strategy

  • Synthesise technical challenges and strategic decisions into clear, concise recommendations for executive management.
  • Ensure the team's technical roadmap supports the company's broader strategy.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or DevSecOps, including time in a leadership role.
  • Understanding of modern infrastructure, cloud environments, automation, and secure delivery practices.
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear decisions and priorities.
  • Experience running team rituals and managing structured delivery processes.
  • Skilled at prioritising work, managing backlogs, and aligning delivery with strategic goals.
  • Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare concise, executive-ready summaries of risks, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and governance frameworks relevant to infrastructure and security.
  • Leadership with empathy, ownership, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
