About the Role

As a Data Engineer at Sollers, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and workflows for our clients. You’ll contribute to a variety of data initiatives, ensuring efficient and reliable data delivery. Whether you’re passionate about creating data systems from the ground up or enhancing existing ones, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to do both in this role.

You will:

  • Lead the technical strategy and delivery of a complex data migration project for an international enterprise client, working during standard Polish business hours.
  • Act as the primary technical authority, bridging the gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Design and oversee end-to-end data migration strategies, ensuring transition from legacy systems to target environments.
  • Take full technical ownership of ETL pipeline architecture, orchestration, and scheduling strategies.
  • Drive DataOps and CI/CD practices to ensure automated and secure data delivery.
  • Mentor and guide a team of data engineers in Poland, ensuring code quality and adherence to migration best practices.

Skills and Tools

You will use:

  • Azure Data Factory (ADF) as the core engine for implementing complex ETL pipelines.
  • Azure SQL Database as the primary target cloud database, with other supplementary ones e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server.
  • Other data processing engines like Databricks.
  • Azure ecosystem services supporting the data platform, primarily ADLS Gen2, Key Vault, Azure Functions, and Azure Entra ID.
  • Advanced T-SQL and standard SQL for complex querying, stored procedures, and data transformation.
  • Azure DevOps for repository management, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advanced frameworks for data migration, focusing on data extraction, transformation, validation, and integration with legacy systems.

Requirements

You need:

  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in data engineering, database development, or similar data-focused roles.
  • Experience in a tech lead or technical leadership position, with a track record of taking ownership of data architectures.
  • Proven, hands-on expertise in executing large-scale data migrations and navigating the constraints of legacy systems.
  • Strong command of English (C1 level) for daily, direct collaboration with international stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of database performance tuning, data modeling, and relational design paradigms.

Nice to Have

  • Domain knowledge within the insurance sector, particularly property & casualty (P&C), auto, or town & farm lines of business.
  • Previous experience in IT consulting or direct client-facing advisory roles.
  • Professional certifications related to Microsoft Azure data engineering or database administration.

We Offer

  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid home office model (2-3 times per week in the office) as work-life balance is crucial at Sollers.
  • A chance to be promoted twice a year and a clearly defined career path with salary forecast.
  • Opportunities for growth with a training budget that you can use for courses and conferences. We also provide access to an online training platform and co-fund language classes.
  • An internal coach to guide you through the onboarding, further training, and career opportunities, plus a budget to be used for your lunches together.
  • A chance to #domore for the planet and the community as part of Sollers Change Makers – our volunteering program.
  • Lots of teambuilding activities, trips, hobby groups, and cultural events to create a company powered by teamwork.
  • Probably all the benefits you can think of!

Tips & Tricks

Mirek, IT Specialist

  • It’s always good to have a resume complete in terms of foreign languages proficiency, acquired skills, and commercial experience. Truth is always the most important aspect, so be honest.

  • You are applying for a Junior position and have no experience? Don’t worry – just add your projects’ portfolio (e.g., on GitHub) and show us what you’ve been doing so far.

  • We’re looking for people open to learning new technologies, getting familiar with the financial sector, particularly insurance.

Pavlo, Developer

  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions and admit you don’t know the answer to a given question – it doesn’t mean you know nothing, it just saves time for all of us

  • IT knowledge at least on a solid basic level is also a must. This includes data structures, design paradigms and patterns, architecture design, and coding principles to name a few

  • Lack or little commercial experience? Be prepared to solve some algorithm tasks
