Tech Lead Engineer (MCP Server Registry)

About the Position

We are looking for a Tech Lead Engineer to design and lead the implementation of an enterprise-grade registry and discovery platform for AI agents, tools, and MCP services. The role focuses on service registration, metadata governance, semantic discovery, identity mapping, lifecycle management, and integration with AWS AgentCore ecosystem components. The ideal candidate has strong platform engineering expertise, experience building catalog or registry systems at scale, and a deep understanding of API security, governance, and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and implementation of an enterprise MCP Server Registry platform.
• Design and maintain metadata schemas for MCP servers, tools, and agent capabilities aligned with Canonical Contract standards.
• Build scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, DynamoDB, and AWS-native services.
• Develop registration, discovery, approval, and lifecycle management workflows for MCP servers and agent capabilities.
• Design semantic discovery mechanisms using vector search, embeddings, and relevance ranking techniques.
• Integrate identity systems and implement Entra Agent ID mapping across agent ecosystems.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, JWT, and enterprise identity providers.
• Design governance processes for onboarding, approval, certification, deprecation, and retirement of MCP services.
• Build and maintain APIs supporting registry operations, discovery services, metadata management, and governance workflows.
• Implement secure credential and secret management using Vault and cloud-native security controls.
• Collaborate with security, platform, and AI engineering teams to establish registry standards and governance policies.
• Design operational observability, auditability, and compliance capabilities across the registry platform.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across registry and discovery initiatives.
• Produce architecture documentation, implementation standards, and platform governance guidelines.

Requirements

• AWS AgentCore Registry + Gateway
• MCP server metadata schema design (Canonical Contract alignment)
• Python backend (FastAPI, DynamoDB)
• Identity integration (Entra Agent ID mapping)
• Semantic discovery (vector search, embedding-based tool lookup)
• Vault credential management

Experience:

• 5+ years backend or platform engineering
• Registry or catalog system architecture at enterprise scale
• OAuth / JWT authentication for API protection
• Governance workflow integration (approval, lifecycle gates)

Will be a plus:

• AWS AgentCore Registry
• Semantic search/vector DB integration (pgvector, OpenSearch)
