Shape the core of our installment loan platform. As a Tech Lead Java SpringBoot – FinTech (w/m/d) remote, you will work in the "Demand" product area, which is responsible for a smooth customer journey – from consultation and product selection to disbursement for financial advisors and their clients from all sales channels.

Whether on-site in Berlin or 100% nationwide remote, you can decide where you work best.

Responsibilities

• You take technical responsibility for your area - from architecture to production operation.

• You define target images, make well-founded architecture and build-vs-buy decisions, and set clear technical guidelines for our modern Java/Spring Boot and Angular/TypeScript landscape.

• You question existing solutions, observe the market and technology, and purposefully develop our systems with the aim of actively shaping the market rather than following it.

• You connect product and technology

  • You work closely with Product and stakeholders and translate business goals into actionable technical approaches. You critically question requirements, make dependencies and risks transparent, and support well-founded decisions.
  • You evaluate AI potentials and consciously integrate them where they create real added value – whether in the development process or in the product.

• You keep an eye on delivery, quality, and costs

  • You are responsible for the technical view of Discovery & Delivery holistically, focusing on architecture, quality, and cost/benefit trade-offs.
  • You avoid unnecessary complexity and make clear decisions about where innovation makes sense.

• You think about technology up to operation

  • You maintain our high code and quality standards and ensure that we can continue to release quickly and reliably.
  • You think beyond the merge request, recognize structural weaknesses early, and ensure stability, maintainability, and transparency in production operation.

• You create technical orientation

  • You work with experienced developers who work independently and discuss at eye level. Through sparring, feedback, and common guidelines, you support them in taking responsibility and making technical decisions confidently.

• You are communication-strong

  • You excel with open, clear, and inspiring leadership - especially in times of change.
  • Your German level is at least negotiation-secure (C1) in speech and writing.

Requirements

• Long-standing experience in the development of complex software systems and in technical leadership, e.g., as Tech Lead, Senior Engineer, or Staff Engineer
• A pronounced sense for architecture, system design, and sustainable technical decisions in grown system landscapes
• Experience in coordination with Product and stakeholders and in translating business requirements into technical tasks and taking responsibility for the feedback of technical decisions.
• Several years of experience with Java / Spring Boot and ideally also knowledge in TypeScript / Angular
• Confidence in dealing with APIs, integrations, distributed systems, and CI/CD in production-near software development
• A high standard for code quality, clear technical principles, and test coverage
• Good understanding of stability, scalability, and maintainability in production operation - even with growing traffic.
• Enjoyment in enabling your colleagues through orientation, sparring, and clear decisions
• Interest in pragmatically using new technologies and sensibly integrating AI potentials into the product (e.g., experience with Claude Code, Copilot, etc.)

Nice to Have

• Experience with CI/CD
• Knowledge of distributed systems
• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies
• Experience with microservices
