About the Position
We are TAF Industries - a military-tech company developing and producing advanced defense technologies: from FPV drones and kamikaze UAVs to missiles and AI-driven aerial reconnaissance systems. We are looking for a Technical Lead – UAV Engineer (FPV / Fixed-Wing) to join our team in Kyiv.
Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:
- Defining UAV development strategy.
- Making architectural decisions on frame, power, video systems, FC, ESC, RX/TX.
- Distributing tasks, reviewing solutions, and supporting the engineering team (3–7 engineers).

Integration & Testing:
- Integrating flight controllers (Betaflight, ArduPilot) and tuning PID and flight missions.
- Configuring video systems (analog/digital) and communication channels.
- Conducting FPV drone testing in real conditions (hot/cold start, range, interference).

Platform Optimization:
- Optimizing weight and energy efficiency.
- Selecting configurations for various operational missions.

Quality Control & Documentation:
- Ensuring assembled drones comply with QC standards.
- Writing technical documentation and maintaining firmware/component/test tracking.

Cross-team Collaboration:
- Working with embedded, payload, and ground-station teams.
- Participating in TRL tracking and field testing.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with FPV/UAV/RC drones (preferably with real operational or combat missions);
- Deep knowledge of Betaflight / ArduPilot / INAV (at least one platform is required);
- Practical experience configuring flight controllers (Matek, F405/F722, iFlight), ESCs, PID tuning, mission profiles;
- Experience working with video systems (analog, digital, VTX, VRX, cameras, antenna solutions);
- Strong soldering, assembly, and full-cycle drone configuration skills;
- Understanding of power systems, energy consumption, and weight optimization;
- English proficiency at B1–C1 level;
- Responsibility, technical leadership skills, and ability to work in a team.
