Technician - Production (Automation Line)

Location: Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

Job Summary

Key person to run and support automated EC motor production lines (max. 2 lines) and to solve any ad hoc issues in production (including maintenance and adjustment of machines to achieve defined quality and output).

The person must be able to run the automated production lines independently, taking up roles similar to a combination of operator, POUP, line leader, and maintenance technician for manual assembly lines. The goal is to sustain the highly automated EC motor lines with an OEE of 85% and above.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for model changeover including machine setup and parameter changes.
• Perform machine troubleshooting whenever necessary.
• Responsible for corrective and preventive maintenance of the lines including spare parts.
• Responsible for 1st article confirmation at the beginning of the shift and after every changeover.
• Responsible for raw material ordering, replenishing of raw material to machines during production.
• Responsible for 1st level failure analysis of reject parts or components from the production line to identify process or supplier-related issues for failures.
• Responsible to confirm non-conformance parts and perform inspection and rework activity whenever necessary.
• Responsible for relevant production KPIs of the line e.g. hourly output, OEE, FOR, quality target, 7s, etc.
• Assist new line setup with machine suppliers, other maintenance technicians, process, and equipment engineers.
• Support continuous improvement of autonomous and preventive maintenance checklist.
• Support training of new EC motor line technicians whenever necessary.
• Support samples build in production and pilot run activities for new models.
• Participate in daily morning meeting and actively support with line improvement activities.
• Other ad hoc tasks as and when required/assigned by superior.

Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical & Electronics / Mechatronics Engineering.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• At least 3 years of experience in a highly automated production environment.
• Able to understand and interpret technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience in failure analysis and problem-solving methodology.
• Knowledge in SAP and Microsoft Office is a must.

Nice to Have

• Certificate of Competency from the Malaysian Energy Commission (ST) which qualifies the certificate holder to be a Wireman or Chargeman.
• Computer science, C++ Programming, Networking, Computer Hardware/Software.
• PLC programming, HMI interface, Servo Drive technology (Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.) and Robotics (Epson, Kuka, Cognex, Keyence…).
