Forbes is seeking a temporary Social Media Producer to help get our journalism in front of the right audiences across social platforms. This is an editorial role focused on distribution: identifying the stories that matter, finding the strongest way to frame them for each platform, and turning audience interest into readership for Forbes journalism.
Responsibilities
- Identify stories with strong social potential and decide what to publish, when, and how to frame them.
- Write, edit, schedule, and publish platform-specific posts across Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and emerging platforms.
- Move quickly during breaking news while maintaining Forbes’ standards for accuracy, sourcing, and editorial judgment.
- Select or create basic social assets, partnering with design and art teams on more complex packaging.
- Identify trends and opportunities on social platforms and communicate effectively with editors.
- Monitor performance and platform trends, using those insights to improve day-to-day publishing decisions and flag opportunities for the newsroom.
- Work closely with editors, reporters, and audience colleagues while maintaining Forbes’ editorial standards and accuracy.
Requirements
- Sharp news judgment, a strong understanding of the news cycle, and a commitment to accuracy and journalistic standards.
- 2–3+ years of experience in a digital newsroom, social editing, audience development, or a related editorial role.
- Strong news judgment and excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
- Hands-on experience publishing journalism across social platforms, particularly Facebook, LinkedIn, and X.
- Understanding of platform-specific audience behavior, formats, and best practices.
- Ability to make independent editorial decisions and work quickly and accurately in a deadline-driven newsroom.
- Experience-or strong interest-in business journalism.
- Comfort using performance data to inform publishing decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with Canva, Figma, or similar design tools; basic social asset creation is preferred.
- Video editing experience is a plus.
- Should be news-obsessed with a passion for thinking quickly and creatively to identify and pursue opportunities.
We Offer
- Hourly Rate: $24.00 - $35.00
- Flexibility: Forbes aims to offer employees the flexibility they need to be successful. Some positions may require candidates to be based in a specific location for consideration while some roles may be fully remote (within the U.S.) if it aligns with the needs of the position.
