About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Test Analyst - Core Banking Mainframe to join our growing team supporting a major Australian banking client. This role is ideal for professionals with strong mainframe testing experience who enjoy solving complex problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to high-impact banking initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define testing scope, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Design comprehensive test cases for System Testing (ST) and System Integration Testing (SIT), ensuring full coverage of functional and technical requirements.
  • Prepare and manage test data for end-to-end scenarios across core banking modules.
  • Execute manual progression and regression testing across mainframe and distributed environments.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with development teams to drive timely resolution.
  • Validate mainframe interactions with distributed systems, including batch processes, DB2 queries, and JCL workflows.
  • Prepare detailed test documentation including test plans, execution logs, defect reports, and status updates.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and insights clearly to project managers and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must have

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
    • 5+ years of Core Banking Mainframe testing experience, with strong hands-on exposure to Lending and other core banking modules.
    • Mainframe testing expertise including JCL, DB2, batch processing, and online transactions.
    • Core Banking application knowledge across Loans, Deposits, CIS, or Umbrella.
    • Advanced proficiency in manual testing methodologies (ST, SIT).
    • Experience in test process management, governance, and quality standards.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in Mainframe environments.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple projects.
    • Solid understanding of the banking domain, especially lending.
    • Highly disciplined, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Nice to have

    • Hogan Core Banking Experience.
    • Automation testing exposure.
    • Performance Testing knowledge.
