Test Engineer (Mainframe)

About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer with experience in mainframe testing to support end-to-end testing activities in Bulgaria. The candidate will contribute to test planning, execution, and quality assurance while ensuring reliable and accurate validation of systems and data.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Execution

  • Support the development of test strategies and detailed test plans
  • Execute test cases and ensure proper documentation of results
  • Participate in functional, integration, and system testing activities

• Mainframe Testing

  • Perform testing across mainframe systems including batch, online, and integration processes
  • Validate data accuracy and system behavior across applications
  • Assist in coordinating test activities across dependent systems

• Automation Support

  • Contribute to the development and execution of automation scripts where applicable
  • Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency through automation

• Defect Management & Reporting

  • Log, track, and manage defects through the defect lifecycle
  • Participate in defect triage meetings and support issue resolution
  • Provide regular updates on test progress, defects, and quality metrics

Requirements

• Must have

  • Experience in test planning and execution
  • Knowledge of mainframe testing (batch and online systems)
  • Basic understanding of integration testing
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Experience with defect tracking tools and reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Nice to have

  • Experience in data validation or data migration testing
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
