QA Hybrid Remote, Bucharest, Romania

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with all scrum teams/product owners to ensure each release meets high-quality standards.
  • Manage the process, workflow, and quality for setting up scheduled events content as well as setting up and monitoring LiveOps.
  • Collaborate across disciplines within the live environment to ensure tasks and responsibilities move forward.
  • Provide testing of scheduled events before they go live to ensure there are no incidents.
  • Proficiently firefight issues that arise and problem solve in a live game environment.
  • Ensure bugs are identified and followed up on before reaching the live environment.
  • Coordinate the scheduling process including follow-ups, documentation, and providing visibility.
  • Identify and drive quality improvements, supporting continuous improvement, working closely with the central operations team.
  • Actively collaborate with developers, designers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness.
  • Work alongside developers, artists, and designers to perform specific tests.
  • Participate with the development team on estimations during backlog refinement and proactively contribute during sprint planning, team retrospectives, and other Scrum ceremonies.
  • Define release/acceptance criteria for every QA verifiable deliverable.
  • Create, update, and maintain test scripts, test cases, test scenarios, project documentation, and QA documents.
  • Lead the effort to document QA activities and maintain project documentation.
  • Execute an assigned portion of the test plan/checklists (daily smoke checklist, new feature checklist).
  • Perform daily smoke tests to ensure the stability of the build.
  • Execute various levels and types of testing such as smoke, sanity, exploratory, functional, regression tests.
  • Communicate risks and dependencies to ensure that they have visibility and are addressed.
  • Raise any issues blocking the QA process in a timely manner.
  • Constantly identify high-quality bugs based on department standards and perform accurate regression of existing bugs.
  • Review database issues to make sure the correct severity/priority was assigned.
  • Manage bug entry to minimize invalid and duplicate issues.
  • Publish/respond to issues, where required, while working closely with the Product Owner.
  • Be the voice of quality for the product by providing qualitative or design feedback from a player’s perspective.
  • Use KPIs to improve the quality of the QA deliverables.
  • Offer training assistance if needed in onboarding new testers.
  • Provide mentoring to team members as needed.
  • Understand the purpose of test automation and contribute to automation/performance test strategies.
  • Take ownership for own development and career management, seeking opportunities to develop personal capabilities and improve performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of gaming/software testing experience.
  • Experience working on LiveOps, setting and configuring events.
  • Experience in working with Agile development teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of game/software development framework, milestone requirements, and QA role/development team deliverables at each stage.
  • Experience with testing a game in various phases of its development, from concept to liveops.
  • Experience with A/B testing methodologies.
  • Willingness to work in an agile environment and can share complex technical information with different teams and partners, within or outside of the quality assurance team.
  • Skills and the ability to come up with quick and creative solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and ensure their completion.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and to think “outside of the box”.
  • Understanding and proven experience with test case management.
  • Ability to create a project plan based on a development plan.
  • Performance and productivity-oriented to drive towards quality outcomes and results.
  • Proactively initiate, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with team members.
  • Proficient with industry standard QA Tools (Jira, Testflight, Testrail, etc).
  • Capability to understand and learn/use new tools (Jenkins, Git, Perforce, etc).
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Nice to Have

  • Basic understanding of a game engine (Unity, Unreal Engine).
