Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

You will be assigned in a large-scale transformation program as a part of a client service team and will be a member of the Transformation Office (TO) with assignments ranging from 6–24 months in duration depending on the nature of the program.

In this role, your specific job will be different from phase to phase.

Responsibilities

  • Independent Diligence Phase (IDP): Play a pivotal role in training client TO members before starting the next phase. Run multiple training sessions on problem solving, facilitation, effective communication, excel skills, and wave masterclasses. Work closely with client TO members and the McKinsey Wave team to set up a transformation infrastructure.
  • Bottom-Up Phase (BUP): Work with a project manager to run the phase efficiently. Lead the coordination of preparation meetings, weekly TO meetings, and wrap-up meetings. Train workstream members on running a weekly cadence of meetings, L-gate definitions, and RTS methodology.
  • Implementation Phase: Transfer most of your activities to client members. Depending on the nature of the transformation, you may run a different workstream or roll off from the program to join another program.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics; or equivalent work experience
  • 1 - 4 years of full-time work experience; preferably in consulting or similar background
  • Excellent organizational capabilities, including the ability to initiate tasks independently and see them through to completion
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Track record of working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Fluency in accounting is preferred
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in Japanese and English
