About the Position
Join a team where empathy meets engineering - and where your impact truly matters. We are looking for a Middle UI/UX Designer (freelance) to join the team on a mobile EdTech product for children aged 7–12. The app combines physical activity with language learning, powered by AI and Computer Vision. The designer will own the product design end-to-end for the MVP: from UX flows and screen design through interactive prototypes and handoff-ready assets. The key challenge is designing an engaging, child-friendly experience around a non-standard user flow - real-time camera interaction, video recording, and AI-driven feedback.
Responsibilities
- Design the MVP mobile app from scratch: user scenarios and UX flows, UI screen designs, interactive prototypes, UI kit creation, mockups ready for development handoff
- Participate in Discovery phase: design the core AI functionality - camera interaction, video recording, real-time feedback display
- Iterate based on team and client feedback; support the design throughout the development phase
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial experience in product design for mobile apps; portfolio with shipped iOS/Android projects
- Experience with EdTech, or gamified apps: understanding of children's interface specifics - simplified navigation, playful visual style, age restrictions, parental gate
- Experience conducting UX research: competitive analysis, user scenario mapping, basic user research methods
- Experience designing non-standard user scenarios: camera interaction, video recording/playback, real-time feedback
- Understanding of accessibility principles: contrast ratios, touch target sizes, readability for a child audience
- Active use of AI tools in the daily design process (Claude, Figma Make, etc.) - non-negotiable; ability to use them to accelerate work
- Strong Figma proficiency: component-based approach, autolayout, variables, interactive prototyping
- Ability to argue and present design decisions to the team and client
- High autonomy: works directly with the team, takes ownership of their direction, meets deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience designing products with AI / Computer Vision functionality
- Illustration and motion design skills (Lottie, interface animations)
