What do you do as an Umweltoberinspektor (m/w/d)?
You will work in one of the departments Waste Management, Emission Control, or Water Management. Depending on the area of deployment, you will be responsible for the approval and supervision of industrial plants, waste or wastewater treatment plants, landfills, as well as flood protection and river restoration.
You will take care of improving air quality, reducing noise pollution, or protecting soils and waters by implementing legal regulations across environmental media.
Your job is diverse: from office to field service, with direct contact with plant operators, other authorities, and the public, between whose interests you sometimes have to mediate.

Requirements
What do you need to bring?
For your application with us, we require a degree in engineering (B.Sc. or B.Eng. or Diplom-FH) in the following fields:
Civil Engineering with a focus on hydraulic engineering or water management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Technical Environmental Protection, Environmental Engineering, Supply and Disposal Technology, Bio-Nano-Technology (Surface Technology), Energy Technology and Resource Optimization (Energy Systems and Infrastructure or Renewable Energy), Process Engineering, or in a comparable, suitable technical field.
Relevant experience from studies, profession, or internships related to technical environmental protection (waste management, emission control, and water management) and/or relevant plant technology is advantageous.
Before inviting you to a personal interview, applications will be subject to a pre-selection. Furthermore, we expect you to have the ability to work independently on technical and legal issues in the field of environmental administration, a high degree of social competence, the willingness to work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented manner, negotiation skills, assertiveness, and decision-making ability, as well as a class B driver's license for field service.
For reasons of career law, only those applicants can generally be considered who have not yet reached the age of 42 by the end of the training (exceptions, e.g., in the case of recognized severe disability/equality or childcare periods). Furthermore, you must have German citizenship or that of another EU member state.
We Offer
What can you earn with us?
During the training service, your gross salary is 1,615.68 €. In addition, a special allowance of 30% of the basic amount is paid. This results in a total of 2,100.38 €.
After passing the examination and taking over (pay grade A 10), your gross salary at the start is 3,693.51 €.
