About the Position
The VDC Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects utilizing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technologies and methodologies. This role involves overseeing the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital tools to optimize project delivery, enhance collaboration, and ensure high-quality results within budget and on schedule. The VDC Manager will work closely with internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders to drive project success and innovation in construction processes.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects using Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) methods and technologies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Integrate VDC tools into workflows to optimize design and construction processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of VDC practices and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
VDC Implementation & Support
- Assist in integrating VDC tools to enhance design, planning, and construction workflows.
Project Coordination
- Support the management of project timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Coordinate internal teams and subcontractors to ensure progress aligns with goals.
- Responsible for project setup and onboarding.
Data Management
- Maintain accurate, accessible, and up-to-date digital models and VDC data.
Documentation
- Prepare and maintain VDC-related reports, meeting minutes, schedules, and change orders.
Quality Control
- Ensure VDC processes and deliverables meet quality standards and project specifications.
Collaboration with Project Teams
- Work closely with project managers, design teams, and contractors to use VDC tools for clash detection, constructability reviews, and schedule optimization.
Progress Monitoring
- Track project progress against the schedule and budget.
- Identify, report, and support resolution of issues or deviations.
Client Interaction
- Assist or lead client meetings and presentations on VDC processes and outcomes, depending on project size and complexity.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with VDC technologies and construction methodologies.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Project Acquisition
- Assist VDC Manager with estimates, proposals, baseline coordination schedules, scopes of work, contracts, and negotiations.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in VDC/BIM project management.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Procore, and 3D modeling software.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to analyze coordination challenges and develop innovative, field-ready solutions.
- Communication & Client Engagement: Ability to work closely with contractors, project managers, and foremen.
- Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of NEC codes, conduit layouts, lighting, and electrical installation best practices.
- Extreme Ownership Mentality: Take full responsibility for project success, client satisfaction, and team performance.
- Leadership & Team Management: Experience managing BIM specialists, remote teams, and project coordination efforts.
