Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking a motivated, self-reliant, and detail-oriented person to join our team. This position will consist of an approximate mix of field and office assignments. There is also the potential for assignments outside of their home office locality. While this role is focused on work located in Texas, it also includes opportunities to support the team nationally.
This person will plan and oversee tasks such as water supply evaluations, installation of groundwater production wells, well testing and analysis, injection wells, quantitative hydrogeology, and other tasks associated with hydrogeology and geology. This individual will also be responsible for leading field data evaluations, preparing well permit applications, generating technical specifications and bid documents, developing schedules and budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, collaboration across disciplines, and report preparation.
This position provides an opportunity to provide guidance, training, and oversight to early-career professionals, growth and development in technical experience, project task management, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, graphical)
- Work independently on tasks and projects with limited supervision
- Adherence to internal company health and safety and other processes and policies
- Provide professional hydrogeological support for a wide range of domestic and potentially international projects
- Develop and support proposal, work plan, and report deliverables
- Work with project technical leads, project managers, and delivery teams to ensure that work products meet client needs
- Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
- Evaluate and interpret collected geologic and hydrogeologic data
- Prepare or review graphical and tabular data summaries
- Develop and support the presentation of project findings to clients and technical professionals
- Oversight of subcontractors and adherence to project specifications and designs
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing across the practice
Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in the field of water resources engineering, hydrogeology, geology, geosystems engineering
- Professional Engineer certifications
- Advanced experience in water supply well specifications and design, water well construction, well pump design/pump selection, well maintenance and rehabilitation, performing aquifer pump tests
- Strong understanding of wells and wellfield asset lifecycle, maintenance strategies, and regulatory compliance
- Strong understanding of federal and state water regulations, permitting processes, and compliance
- Active participation in professional organizations
- Experience mentoring and developing junior staff in technical and professional growth
- Strong communication and presentation skills and experience engaging executive level stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver high quality client outcomes

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in Engineering work
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
- Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary
