Accountant Senior Operations

About the Position

Ark Robotics is hiring a Senior Statutory Accountant (Chief Accountant) in Kyiv to lead the transition of our local tax and statutory accounting in-house. This key role reports directly to the Country Finance Lead and works closely with the Corporate Finance Controller. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience (preferably in Manufacturing, Defense Tech, or Import/Export) with proven hands-on expertise in Ukrainian statutory standards (NASU), Diia City, VAT administration (unblocking & budgetary reimbursement), and primary document management via M.E.Doc/Vchasno.

Responsibilities

• Full-Cycle Statutory & Tax Accounting: Manage all local accounting processes for the Ukrainian legal entity in compliance with National Accounting Standards (NASU) and Diia City framework.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and ensure timely submission of statutory, financial, tax, and statistical reporting (CIT, VAT, payroll, environmental taxes).
• VAT Management & Unblocking: Oversee ERPN registrations, monitor SM KOR risks, lead tax invoice unblocking procedures, and execute statutory budgetary VAT reimbursement.
• Primary Documentation & EDI: Implement strict regulations for primary document collection, verification, and archiving using M.E.Doc and Vchasno platforms.
• Tax Audits & STS Relations: Lead statutory tax audits, handle inquiries from the State Tax Service (STS), prepare formal responses, and defend company interests.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with the Corporate Finance Controller to reconcile local ERP data for consolidation into corporate managerial (IFRS/GAAP) reports.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and manage operational accountants as the internal finance team expands.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, or Senior Statutory Accountant.
• Industry Background: Experience in Manufacturing, Defense Tech, Hardware, or International Trade (Import/Export) is a critical advantage.
• Tax & Statutory Expertise: Deep, up-to-date knowledge of the Tax Code of Ukraine, National Accounting Standards (NASU), local labor legislation, and Diia City framework.
• VAT Mastery (MUST HAVE): Proven hands-on track record of managing statutory budgetary VAT reimbursement processes and executing rapid tax invoice unblocking procedures (SM KOR criteria).
• Software Proficiency: Expert command of ERP software frameworks, M.E.Doc, Vchasno, the Electronic Cabinet of the Taxpayer, and Client-Bank applications.
• Cross-functional Skills: Clear understanding of transforming local statutory data into corporate managerial/IFRS reports.
• Languages: Fluent Ukrainian (strong legal and statutory argumentation skills); Professional Working English (B1+) for reading, writing documentation, and attending corporate All-Hands.
• Location: Based in Kyiv with willingness to work in-office during the initial 3-month probation period.

Nice to Have

• Defense Tech / Hardware / Manufacturing Experience: Prior background working in MilTech, Robotics, Electronics Hardware, or complex production environments.
• Audit & Big 4 Background: Career history with reputable local/international accounting or auditing firms.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as CAP/CIPA, ACCA (F1-F9 / DipIFR), or Certified Ukrainian Auditor.
• ERP Implementation: Hands-on experience participating in or leading the migration/implementation of a new ERP system (e.g., BAS, SAP, Odoo).
• Advanced English: Upper-Intermediate (B2) or Higher English proficiency for direct cross-border corporate reporting.
