Addiction Counsellor - Homeless Service

About the Position

CPL Healthcare is delighted to announce our partnership with a leading non-profit organization in the Northwest that works with clients who have experienced long-term homelessness, chronic trauma, and other related issues including mental health and addiction. We are currently seeking an Addiction Counsellor for our Homeless Service in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

Responsibilities

• Provide addiction support to service users as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Build rapport, counsel, advocate, and liaise on behalf of clients.
• Develop constructive relationships with clients and team members.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Develop positive relationships with internal and external agencies.
• Create Care Plans.
• Use harm reduction approaches to support clients at their own pace.

Requirements

• Professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy at a minimum of Level 7 on the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland’s framework.
• Accreditation as a counsellor with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, the Irish Association of Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors, or a relevant body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy.
• Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in a counselling setting where addiction issues were part of the work, using harm reduction modalities.
• An excellent understanding of issues relating to problem drug use, homelessness, dual-diagnosis, and progression pathways towards community-based rehab, housing, and training services.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with clients and team.
• Hold a full clean driver’s licence and access to a car.
