AI & Platform Engineer
Primary stack
Job description
About the Position
We are looking for an AI & Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team in Ciudad Real. You will build AI agents and AI-native systems that automate platform engineering and operations work.
AstroKube Platform unifies infrastructure context, reusable components, and repeatable workflows under permissions that control what humans and AI agents can run. AstroKube Agents is a team of specialist agents (platform engineering, release engineering, SRE, security, FinOps) that do operational work with varying degrees of engineering supervision. Around both products, we run our customers’ infrastructure as an operated service.
Our mission is to enable the world to create and maintain reliable digital products. This role works on both halves of that: the AI side and the infrastructure side.
Responsibilities
- Design and build AI agents and AI-native systems that automate platform engineering and operations work, using LLM APIs, agent frameworks, and protocols such as MCP, or whatever technology the problem calls for.
- Take part in the design and implementation of Cloud Native platforms and release engineering processes.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code modules and automate operational processes on Cloud Native platforms, with Terraform or Pulumi modules, Kubernetes operators, or the technology you choose for the problem.
- Deploy Cloud Native platforms (almost always based on Kubernetes), help migrate applications onto them, and then take part in operating them: you build it, you run it.
- Develop automatic tests that validate architectures and Cloud platforms.
- Take part in the ideation and development of tools and features for self-service Cloud platforms.
Requirements
- A builder mindset, and curiosity for technology, especially AI and Cloud.
- The intent to outgrow this role. We would rather hire someone who will grow past this job description than someone who will sit comfortably inside it.
- An AI-native way of working: you have not only adopted AI into your workflow, you use it to keep growing your own knowledge and abilities, and you are comfortable building AI agents for yourself and for others.
- Clear communication of your ideas, and the ability to listen to others.
- Fast, independent learning. You are comfortable being dropped into a technology you have never used and finding your way.
- Fluent Spanish and English.
We value experience in the following areas:
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Data platforms (Databricks, Kubeflow)
- Kubernetes and the Cloud Native ecosystem
- CI/CD and release engineering (GitHub Actions)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi)
- High-level programming (Go, Python, TypeScript, SQL)
- Systems programming (Rust, C)
We Offer
- Salary of €45k–€60k, depending on experience.
- Hybrid work, combining in-person time at our offices in Ciudad Real with remote work.
- Flexible hours, as long as they fit the projects you are working on.
How We Hire
- Intro call: A short conversation about you, the role, and how we work.
- Technical conversation: We talk through something you have built: an agent, a platform, an automation, and the decisions behind it.
- Practical exercise: A scoped exercise, building a small agent or automation, that you review with two engineers from the team.
- Meet the team and offer: You meet the people you would work with, and we make a decision.
