Job description
About the Position
We create architectural images for buildings and spaces that do not yet exist. Our goal is to communicate the strengths and character of each project, working in close and constructive dialogue with our clients. We do not see our work simply as a marketing exercise. On the contrary, we strive to give every project the highest level of dignity and attention, keeping in mind that the image we create may be the first - and possibly the only - representation of a project, since there is no guarantee that it will be selected by the jury or ever become a built reality.
We are not looking for a candidate with a predefined or highly specific level of technical expertise. In our experience, individual qualities, sensitivity, and attitude have always been the most important factors when choosing a new collaborator. We believe that technical skills can be taught, developed, and refined together. Individual qualities and personal sensitivity, however, are much harder to teach. We are therefore more interested in finding people who share and resonate with our visual sensibility than in technically accomplished professionals whose personal style may be far from ours.
Regardless of their level of experience, all new collaborators are expected to complete an initial period of training at our studio in Milan. The duration of this period will be agreed upon together, depending on the candidate's background and experience.
Responsibilities
- Create visual representations for architectural projects.
- Work in close and constructive dialogue with clients.
- Combine different representational techniques, bringing together tradition and innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or higher; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- A genuine passion for architecture and photography.
- Strong visual sensitivity and a good understanding of composition.
- Good working knowledge of 3ds Max with V-Ray or Corona Renderer.
- Good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- An interest in drawing, painting, and different forms of visual representation is highly appreciated.
We Offer
- Autonomy within a collaborative environment.
- The opportunity to become part of a team without being constrained by rigid specialization.
- 21 paid days of absence per year.
- Discretionary bonuses based on commitment and contribution.
- Additional bonuses for competition images that subsequently contribute to a project winning first prize.
- Invitations to professional events, trips, and company dinners.
- Opportunity to support the studio in research activities connected to the university course taught at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
About the Company
We are a studio made up entirely of architects, united by a passion for architecture and its representation. Rather than considering ourselves 3D artists, we see ourselves as image craftsmen. Our method starts with the hand and with drawing. We are interested in combining different representational techniques, bringing together tradition and innovation.
We are curious about artificial intelligence and actively use it as part of our workflow, but we do not turn our backs on chiaroscuro, drawing, painting, or the values that architectural representation has developed and passed down over centuries. The painterly quality of an image is an essential part of our visual language.
For the past ten years, we have specialized in visualizing architectural projects designed by others, primarily for international architecture competitions. Our focus on competitions is deliberate. We believe that architectural competitions represent one of the most fertile fields of research and experimentation within our discipline.
It is a creative, dynamic, and stimulating environment that allows us to work with cultures and architectural approaches very different from our own. We primarily collaborate with Northern European architecture practices, while also having the opportunity to work with studios from much further afield.
Part of the challenge - and the pleasure - lies in confronting the work of some of the leading practices in contemporary architecture.
To date, we have been responsible for the visual representation of more than 2,300 projects.
